EQUINE HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR ENTRY INTO SPY COAST FARM
- Spy Coast Farm requires that all horses entering the farm provide a negative Coggins test within one year of entry as well as a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (Health Certificate) signed by a licensed veterinarian within thirty (30) days of entry. Horses under six (6) months of age, who are accompanied by their mothers, do not require a negative Coggins test of their own but must be included in the Health Certificate.
- It is required that all horses older than four (4) months of age be vaccinated for Equine Herpes Virus Type 1 (EHV-1) no sooner than seven (7) days and no later than ninety (90) days prior to entry into the farm and that the date of vaccination be noted on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.
- It is required that all horses older than six (6) months of age be vaccinated for Equine Influenza no sooner than seven (7) days and no later than ninety (90) days prior to entry into the farm and that the date of vaccination be noted on the Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.
- The Coggins test and Certificate of Veterinary Inspection must accompany the horses upon arrival and be available throughout their stay at Spy Coast Farm. Spy Coast Farm urges that the paperwork be mailed or faxed in advance to avoid instances of lost or forgotten paperwork which would result in denial of entry into the property.
- It is recommended that all horses arrive between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm. If it is absolutely necessary to arrive at any other time, you must call Spy Coast Farm at least twenty four (24) hours before arrival to make those arrangements.
- Please take your horse’s temperature on a regular basis so as to establish a normal temperature range for your horse. If that temperature is elevated prior to shipping to Spy Coast Farm, please consult your veterinarian as to the advisability of shipping that horse.
- Immediately upon arrival at Spy Coast Farm, please take your horse’s temperature and, if it is elevated, consult a licensed veterinarian.
- Spy Coast Farm requires you to be conscious of the need to exercise good hygiene and vigilance in the day to day care of your animals while stabled at the farm.
Spy Coast Farm is committed to promoting the health and safety of the horse and reserves the right to deny entry into its property to anyone that does not follow the farm’s Equine Health Requirements.
