BWP/NAD Hunter Book
Pilot Program

The BWP/NAD is proud to announce the opening of our “BWP/NAD Hunter Book”. This will be a Pilot program for the 2009 Keuring tour that starts July-August of this year.

Eligibility:   Open to all BWP approved foals, mares, geldings and stallions. The divisions will be the same as what BWP currently has, Fillies & Colts of the current year, Yearlings, 2 Yr olds, Mares 3yr-6yr, Mares 7yr+. We will add “Geldings & Stallions 3yr-6yr and Gelding and Stallions 7yr+” for the “H” Label only.

The participants will first undergo their BWP inspection for approval and scores (if not previously inspected). At the conclusion of the BWP inspection, we will host the “H” Label class, a hunter breeding class.  Participants will be scored based on Hunter conformation and Hunter movement criteria by the Hunter Judge.  This score will be in addition to the BWP keuring score. Each participant will receive a BWP/NAD Certificate with the “H” Label stamp and score and officially be placed in the BWP/NAD Hunter Book. The Hunter Book will comprise all “H” Label BWP horses, their pedigree and Hunter score.

Cost: Each site must have a minimum number of participants to cover the cost of the judge for the day.  The site host will be responsible for travel and lodging expenses for the judge, if necessary (of which can be shared amongst “Hunter” participants). There will be a $50 site fee paid by each site to cover the costs of ribbons and certificates.

Each “H” label inspection will be $50 per horse. It will be open to all BWP approved foals, mares, geldings and stallions. The divisions will be the same as what BWP currently has, Fillies & Colts of the current year, Yearlings, 2 Yr olds, Mares 3yr-6yr, Mares 7yr+ . We will add “Geldings & Stallions 3yr-6yr and Gelding and Stallions 7yr+” for the “H” Label only.

Evaluation: Participants will be evaluated and scored by an approved Hunter Judge for a BWP/NAD “H” label for “Hunter”. All participants must be inspected or have been previously inspected by the BWP and entered into the BWP foal book, main stud book, auxiliary book or stallion book prior to being inspected by the “Hunter” judge to acquire their BWP “H” Label.

The Hunter judge must be a USEF “R” rated judge and chosen regionally or locally by the site host and pre-approved by the BWP/NAD and/or Nancy Maloney.

Awards: There will be high score prizes for each division at the end of the tour. As a Pilot Program, we will start with 3-4 Hunter sites in 2009 and grow upon demand.
