| 2009 Keuring Tour |
The 2009 BWP/NAD Keuring tour was a great success this year! We welcomed back Etienne Van Muylem and Boudewijn Schepers as representative and judges from Belgium. Chris Sallee, Kelly Gordon and Julia Robinson were the BWP/NAD Representatives that traveled on the tour. We visited 27 sites along the way including new sites in Jacksonville, Lexington, Maryland, New York, Ontario, Louisiana, Southern California and Vancouver. We registered and inspected over 280 horses this year and Boudewijn and Etienne believed this to be the overall highest quality of horses this year as many of the breeding programs here are producing top notch offspring, as well as bringing in and producing well bred mares which is the foundation for all good breeding programs. The BWP/NAD stallions and mares are consistently producing high quality offspring, many that are competing at high levels with the best riders in sport!

This year we introduced the "H-Label" for the Hunter Book and had three sites Jacksonville, Florida, Mount Airy, MD and Hartford, WI to host our "pilot" program. We had 24 horses participate and receive their "H-Label" judged by well known Hunter Judges, Joyce Ainsworth in Mount Airy, David Erlandson in Jacksonville, and John Berkos in Hartford. The Hunter Judges and BWP Judges did a great job explaining the similarities and differences that each look for in terms of conformation and movement. They both concurred that good conformation is necessary for good performance in any discipline and looked for very similar qualities overall. Belgium has been very supportive of our pursuit to develop and grow the Hunter program here in the States. We would like to thank our H-Label Hosts, Karen Severns & Carolyn Rice, Nancy Maloney, and Paula Quinn and each of the Hunter Judges from our pilot sites this year! More about the H-Label
| Some of the highlights of the tour included traveling to new sites in Jacksonville, FL and Paula Quinn's beautiful facility (thank you Stacia Purcell for loaning us your beach house for the night! What a treat!). There we also branded our first BRp foal, Joie de Vivre, owned by Jo McCracken. | ![]() |
| BWP Success - Congratulations! |
BWP stallion Ublesco was featured in the Chronicle of the Horse with Cara Raether as they were on the US Team in the Meydan FEI Nations Cup of Falsterbo, Sweden. This combination contributed a clear and four-fault round for a 7th placed U.S. team effort.
BWP Mare Sapphire won the $50,000 Spy Coast Farm Grand Prix with McLain Ward at the Hampton Classic Horse Show on August 28th. Then on Sunday August 30th, Sapphire and Ward made history by winning the $250,000 FTI Grand Prix and FEI World Cup Qualifier for a record fourth time. Sapphire is owned by Ward and Blue Chip Bloodstock. Congratulations and photos of our additional winners
