How to win Awards!

Winning awards is fun, but competing isn’t enough to win them.  The requirements for awards can be complicated and confusing. However, below you will find some helpful insight on competing and earning awards with the BWP, USEF, USDF, USEA, and PHR.

In order to compete for any BWP award, you MUST be a current member of BWP.

BWP:
To be eligible, a horse must be a registered Belgian Warmblood, either studbook or foal book, and owned by a current BWP member. Points or scores required for the Lifetime Achievement Awards are accumulated over the lifetime of the horse. There is no limit for obtaining the necessary requirements.

USEF:
There are awards in many categories on both National and Zone levels.  You and your horse need to be members of the USEF. Points are earned based on placement in the class and the number of horses competing.  The awards year runs December 1 through November 30.

USDF:
You need to be a member of USEF and USDF in order to have your scores and points counted.
Your horse needs to be registered with the USEF and USDF.
USDF requires that your horse be designated for the specific breed registry for All Breed Awards.  The awards year runs October 1 through September 30.
Scores are what count toward your wins, not the class placement.

PHR:
Your horse must be registered with PHR, and you will need to also pay for inclusion in the Silver Stirrup Awards. Class placement and the number of horses competing determines the number of points that you earn.  The awards year runs December 1 through November 30.

USEA:
You must be a member and your horse must be registered with the USEA. Points are earned based on placement in the class and the number of horses competing.  The awards year runs December 1 through November 30.  There are also achievement awards available for a certain number of completions and/or placings at each level.
